The history of the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah and the cars that set records there was discussed. Bonneville is a place where you race against the clock for ultimate speed over a fixed length course, averaged over two runs in opposite directions within one hour of each other. By the 1930s, Bonneville was the World’s foremost venue for land speed record attempts and remains so today. The world famous Shelby Cobra Daytona Coupe (CSX2287) reenacted its legendary record-setting day at Bonneville when it was driven to a total of 23 national (United States Auto Club) and international (FIA) land speed records back in November of 1965. The featured cars included our 1935 Auburn 851 Boat Tail Speedster, 1954 Ferrari 375MM Pinin Farina Spyder;1954 Austin-Healey 100-4 BN1, 1956 Jaguar D-Type, 1964 Shelby Cobra Daytona Coupe, and 1991 Salt Shark Lakester on static display.
