On Sunday October 18th from 11am to 3pm, Methodist Hospital Foundation hosted South Philly‘s “FASHION IN THE FAST LANE”, a benefit fashion show, brunch and fine wine tasting at the Simeone Foundation Automotive Museum. All proceeds from this event are used to establish a nursing scholarship in the name of Anne C. Rogan. Anne, a Methodist Hospital employee of 20 years who earned her RN while working full time and battling cancer, died in 2008, just two years after graduating from the Methodist Hospital Nursing School. More than 400 guests attended this year’s automobile themed event at the 75,000 square ft. Simeone Foundation Automotive Museum. This collection of rare sports cars include models by Alfa Romeo, Aston Martin, Bugatti, Stutz and Hudson and are displayed in huge dioramas depicting three dimensional scenes such as an Italian Village and a tableau of the Bonneville Salt Flats. Guests experienced a full-throttle fashion show production with souped-up visual, audio and technical details including a 70 ft. runway extending through the vast showroom of streamlined sportsters and sleek, sexy racers. Fashion talent was cast from the staff at Methodist Hospital, Maria Goretti Cheerleading Squad and a special guest model Jessica Rogan, daughter of Anne Rogan. These fashionistas will be revved up to strut ready-to-wear, evening-wear and local designer collections from South Philly’s fine men’s and women’s clothing boutiques and hair amp make-up salons. Superior “special order” French and Italian wines was offered to guests including the illustrious “Castle of Dracula” Marsecco, a sparkling blood-red wine from one of the world’s oldest Italian dynasties. Artisan breads from Metropolitan Bakery and specialty desserts from South Philly’s famous Termini Pastries were served to accompany the gourmet brunch. The Foundation, a non-profit organization, serves as the fund raising arm of Methodist Hospital, whose mission is dedicated to improving the health of the South Philadelphia community. Methodist Hospital remains the only acute care hospital in the heart of South Philadelphia and stands firm in their 117 year commitment to the people of it‘s community.
