While large engines and maximum power usually define race winners, occasionally racecars with perfect balance can overcome the handicap of their smaller displacement engines. Dr. Simeone discussed four examples that were able to not only dominate their class, but challenge for outright wins. The Mercer Raceabout, MG K3 Magnette, Alfa Romeo 1750SS, and the Bugatti Type 35 were discussed.
