In 1950, Briggs Cunningham became the first American since the ’20s to field cars at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Newspapers of the day called him the leader of “the brave little band of millionaires who carry America’s sports car hopes abroad.” This Demo Day took a closer look at one of our nation’s most historically significant “gentleman sportsmen” and examined his life and impact on the world.
Featuring Simeone Foundation Automotive Museum automobiles included the 1948 Cadillac Series 61, 1950 Allard J2, 1952 Cunningham C-4R Roadster, 1954 Ferrari 375 MM Spider, and the 1956 Jaguar D-Type.
