In the immediate aftermath of the Second World War, Mercedes-Benz had more pressing matters to attend to than achieving success on the racetrack. Within ten short years, this would all change. Despite almost impossible odds, Mercedes would find themselves alone at the top of the racing world, and then, in the very same year, self-exiled from it. This Demo Day looked at the incredible story of the rise and fall of Mercedes-Benz in what may have been the most impactful year in the history of one of the world’s greatest and best-known automakers, and why Mercedes left the sport for almost 20 years.

Featured cars included the 1954 Ferrari 375MM Spider, 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300SL Gullwing Coupe, 1956 Jaguar D-Type, and 1956 Maserati 300S.
