Andrew Taylor explored the concepts and techniques behind effective lighting with flash. The discussion started with fundamentals that build on exposure principles taught in the previous installments of Foundations of Photography, simple techniques that improve the results from a camera’s built-in flash. The discussion then focused on fill flash techniques and on using flash as a key light. The course explored topics ranging from bouncing and syncing flash to shooting with one or more off-camera flash units. The live shoot portion of the class featured the 1956 Maserati 300S and 1958 Aston Martin DBR1.
