Andrew Taylor will explore how to expand your artistic options by giving a deeper understanding of the cyclical relationship between shutter speed, aperture, and ISO. This course covers the basic exposure controls provided by all digital SLR cameras, as well as the most advanced point-and-shoot models. Learn how to master a camera's metering modes, how to use exposure compensation and bracketing, and much more. By the end of the course, you'll know how to develop an "exposure strategy" that will allow you to effectively employ your exposure knowledge in any shooting situation.

As history has continually demonstrated, professional race car drivers face the threat of danger with every pass and turn. Sadly, some of racing's greatest catastrophes have not just involved those behind the wheel, but also innocent spectators and onlookers. Join us as we take a closer look at some of racing's greatest tragedies, and share the stories of the advocates, both on and off the track who fought for a safer competitive environment.

Foundations of Photography 102- Composition

Andrew Taylor will explore how Composition can make an interesting subject bland or make an ordinary subject appear beautiful. The discussion will explore the concepts of composition, from Compositional Tools like the Golden Ratio to more advanced topics such as the way the eye travels through a photo. The course addresses how the camera differs from the eye to help you see photographically, and introduces composition fundamentals, such as balance and point of view. The discussion also examines the importance of geometry, light, and color in composition, and looks at how composition can be improved with a variety of post-production techniques.

FWhile the names of many other racing car drivers have been lost to history, the legacy of Juan Manuel Fangio lives on. A skilled and determined driver, he was nicknamed 'El Maestro' (the master) for his ability to maneuver his race car with precision and control. While Fangio had many achievements throughout his career, it is his legacy that echoes most strongly across time. Today, many racing drivers aspire to be like him, and race car drivers all over the world are still inspired by his story. Join us as we take a deeper look at one of our favorite heroes, and retell the stories that made him a legend.

Birth of the Ford GT

The birth and evolution of the Ford GT – the iconic car that won Le Mans four times in the 1960s – will be explored at an event at the Simeone Museum in Philadelphia on June 4th. The “Birth and Evolution of the Ford GT” will have on display, for the very first time at the same place, all the racing variations of the Ford GT: Mk I, Mk II, and Mk IV, as well as a Lola Mk 6, the car many believe was the inspiration for the Ford GT.

Pre-Demo Day chat with Camilo Pardo

Join us for a special pre-Demo Day chat with Camilo Pardo,the Ford designer who penned the 2005 Ford GT. The very car he used as inspiration, Ford GT-40 Mk I chassis #1030, will be on display for Pardo to use in his discussion. This event will take place immediately prior to the start of our Americans at Le Mans Demo Day and is free with regular museum admission and for Simeone Museum members.

We're taking a deep dive and cracking open the archives to give you the behind the scenes stories about some of your favorite collection cars. We're really pulling out the chocks for this one!
