The Simeone Foundation Automotive Museum is proud to present our 2020 Foundations of Photography Study Series with Andrew Taylor.
Foundations of Photography is our six-part series dedicated to the art and science of Automotive Photography. Participants will find this class provides an excellent learning experience for both the novice and seasoned photographer. Class instruction is provided by museum photographer Andrew Taylor. This is a rare opportunity to learn from one of the best. Andrew is closely familiar with every car in our collection and knows the best way to photograph them. This will be Andrew’s fourth time instructing this educational series.
Tickets are $25.00 per class or $125.00 for all six. Current Simeone Museum Members are eligible for a $5.00 per class discount.
Foundations of Photography Agenda
Each of the Foundations of Photography sessions begins with a classroom introduction to one of the six photographic principals. This classroom curriculum touches on both the science and the technical practice relating to that particular day’s topic. Andrew will cover the following concepts on the dates shown below.
Exposure – March 14th – Celebrity Cars Demo Day
Composition – April 11th – Road & Track Demo Day
Lenses and Filters – May 9th – Team Managers Demo Day
White Balance, Color Temp, & Backlighting – July 11th – Mercedes 1955 Demo Day
Flash Fundamentals – Aug. 8th – Breaking the Racing Ban Demo Day
Capturing Speen – October 24th – Mille Miglia Demo Day
After each classroom session, students work in a “Live Photo Shoot Area,” focusing on a different exhibit from the Museum. While participating, students are encouraged to photograph our collection cars up close. During this time, the museum will provide ladders to give students high-angle and unique shots.
Demo Day Shooting
The classroom portion of the class lets out at noon. Afterward, participants are invited to join Andrew for live Demo Day photography action, in our photographer’s section. This exclusive location provides a perfect perspective to practice what students learned during the educational potion while photographing over famous collection in action!
